Why call it Settled: Finding Joy in the Journey?
In life, things are always happening around us to distract us. People come and people go. Circumstances change daily. Chaos seems to be woven into all of our lives. As Christians, we do not have to live in a state of fear and doubt, always feeling unsettled. Because of Christ, we can be SETTLED, even when all around us is not stable. Christ is our Rock and our Fortress. He never changes. We can find joy in the journey of life when we realize Who is in control of everything and are settled in Him.
I chose the name of this page for a reason. The word “settled” can mean to find a secure job or lifestyle. It can also mean to become quiet or calm. My husband and I have moved 15 times since we’ve been married and we travel all the time, so we often don’t feel settled in the first sense. But, if we choose to find our rest in God, we can still be settled in the sense of being calm and quiet because we know He is taking care of us. When things are up in the air constantly, we don’t have to feel worried and panicked. In our world today, everything seems chaotic. Tragedies are happening all around us. Natural disasters seem so frequent. It’s hard to make sense of it all. The only way that you and I have hope and can remain settled through all the changes and turmoil is if we find our rest in God alone.
Psalm 62:5-6 says, “My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.” When we are settled in God, we will have joy and peace that no one else will understand. Let God settle you in Him today.
